Child support is calculated using the New Jersey Child Support Guidelines and is based on the income of both parties, the amount of time each party spends with the child, any special needs of the child, work-related childcare expenses, and the cost of health insurance coverage for the child. In some cases, using the Child Support Guidelines may not be appropriate.
